Fire ban in the Sihlwald and at Langenberg Wildlife Park
Due to the ongoing drought, there is a high risk of forest fires (level 4 out of 5). A ban on lighting fires in forests and in the vicinity of forests is therefore in force in the canton of Zurich from today, Friday 26 June 2026, at 12 noon.
A fire ban is now in force throughout the entire Sihlwald area, on the grounds of the Sihlwald Visitor Centre and at Langenberg Wildlife Park.
Due to the ongoing heatwave, the Canton of Zurich has raised the forest fire risk to level 4 out of 5. Consequently, it is prohibited until further notice to light fires in the forest or within a 50-metre radius of the forest edge. It is also prohibited to discard burning or smouldering materials such as cigarettes or matches.
The ban expressly applies to official fire pits, fire pits in and around forest huts, and charcoal barbecues.
The situation is being monitored continuously. You can find the latest information at waldbrandgefahr.ch and zh.ch/waldbrandgefahr.
