Fire ban due to forest fire risk
Due to the persistent breeze and the lack of rain, it is very dry in the Sihlwald and in all forests in the canton of Zurich. There is a high risk of forest fires (level 4 out of 5). For this reason, there is an immediate ban on fires in and near the forest.
In the forest and up to 50 meters away from the forest, it is forbidden to light fires or throw away glowing material such as cigarettes or matches. This ban also applies to paved, official fireplaces in and around forest huts as well as to charcoal fires and barbecues.
Gas and electric barbecues are exempt from the ban on fires in and near forests, provided they are used with the necessary care. This means that the appliances must not tip over and must be set up on a fireproof surface (e.g. on paved areas).
