Temporary reopening of the Sihlwald campsite
The collaboration has proven its worth: The "Verein Camping Sihlwald" and the Zurich Wilderness Park Foundation are ready for the next step. The interim use of the Sihlwald campsite will start on a contractual basis just in time for the start of the season. Guests are welcome from April.
The "Verein Camping Sihlwald" is now responsible for the operation of the campsite on the Sihl. The association was formed from the board of IG Camping Sihlwald. The latter was founded last fall by enthusiastic Sihlwald campers after the foundation announced the temporary closure of the campsite on the Sihl. As soon as the weather conditions are right next April, it will therefore be possible to camp in Sihlwald again.

Many people are meeting outside again due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Zurich Wilderness Park and numerous other nature reserves are asking people to organize these stays or celebrations with respect for nature.
The rangers recommend the following rules of conduct for a respectful experience of nature:
The ibex are in rut
To court the females, the kings of the Alps adopt a very special posture during the mating season: they tilt their heads back, fold their horns on their backs and raise their tails. The animals repeatedly stick out their tongues and make a clicking sound. This is how our ibexes currently gently court the favor of the females. The wild battles for the hierarchy were already fought when it was warmer. Now they have to manage their energy well. The ibex mating season lasts until around the end of January.

From now on, an exciting background report from a Swiss zoo will appear in every second issue of Tierwelt magazine. On November 26, 2020, it's the turn of Zurich Wilderness Park. We show what it takes to keep a pack of wolves successfully and in an animal-friendly way. Current occasion for this article: Langenberg Zoo recently received a new female wolf. She will hopefully form a new pack with the last remaining male from the old wolf family.
