"The Mice Are on the Loose!"
Wilderness Day on August 29 at Langenberg Wildlife Park
Starting at 6:00 p.m., the Wildnispark Zurich invites you to an exciting lecture, a behind-the-scenes look at the bat rescue center, and activities for the whole family.
The “Müsli-Hüsli” is one of the most popular attractions at the Langenberg Wildlife Park in Langnau am Albis. Here, visitors can observe house mice, brown rats, and—with a little luck—even rare garden dormice. While house mice and brown rats are widespread in Switzerland, garden dormice and bats are struggling with dwindling habitats.
On Wilderness Day, “The Mice Are on the Loose!”, these rather unassuming species take center stage. Highlights of the event include the lecture “Rats and Mice—Small Animals That Make a Big Difference” by biologist Michelle Gygax, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the bat rescue center at Langenberg Wildlife Park. The Bat Conservation Foundation will also be presenting itself.
Attractions for All Ages
The program is complemented by interactive stations about mice, rats, and bats, as well as a craft table for children. The Langenberg Restaurant will serve summery food and drinks until 9:00 p.m.
The Zürcher Kantonalbank, the main sponsor of the Wildnispark Zurich, will also be on site with a photo booth and invites visitors to capture their memories of Wilderness Day.
The event will take place on Saturday, August 29, 2026, rain or shine, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Langenberg Wildlife Park in Langnau am Albis. Admission is free.
