New prices for parking in the Zurich Wilderness Park

The Wildnispark Zurich Foundation is increasing the daily flat rates for visitor parking by five francs as of  1st January 2024. The foundation uses this income to finance a significant part of its operations. The reason for the price increase is rising costs for the maintenance of animal facilities and visitor infrastructure.

Young lynxes in the Zurich Wilderness Park

A trip to Langenberg Zoo is particularly worthwhile at the moment. Young animals can be observed in many animal species. Particularly pleasing: the lynxes have also given birth again - two females. Annual Report 2022 of the Zurich Wilderness Park Foundation

Zurich Wilderness Park is and remains a popular excursion destination: a total of 658,000 visits were recorded in Sihlwald and Langenberg Zoo in 2022. The Zurich Wilderness Park Foundation was able to open a new outdoor enclosure for Norway rats at Langenberg Zoo. Another highlight of the year was the transfer of a herd of five bison to Welschenrohr in the canton of Solothurn. An attempt to reintroduce bison is currently underway there - a species conservation project in which the Zurich Wilderness Park is also involved. Interesting research results can be reported from the Sihlwald forest: The proportion of deadwood has increased significantly over the last five years.

A spiky Christmas menu for the moose in Langenberg

Moose feed almost exclusively on conifers for months in winter. The animals eat a lot - several trees a day. Unsold Christmas trees from the region are therefore welcome. A well-established win-win situation is once again providing much joy for humans and animals this year.

Insects in the forest - diverse, amazing and indispensable

Up to 60,000 insect species live in Switzerland. However, only half of these have been researched. The "Insects" wilderness day offers visitors to the Zurich Wilderness Park the opportunity to find out more about these small creatures.
Time and place: Sihlwald, Sunday, September 25 from 1.30 to 4.30 pm.

The shaggy giants have arrived in the Jura!
