On April 17, Zurich Wildlife Park transported its three young bears, which were born in the winter of 2015/16, to Straubing Zoo in Germany. The transportation went smoothly. At Straubing Zoo, the three brown bear brothers live together in one enclosure. The transfer to Straubing was organized in consultation with the person responsible for the European studbook.

Male bear injured on hind leg

Shortly after the transport of the three young bears, the adult male bear in Langenberg injured one of his hind legs to such an extent that he is currently unable to stand on it. A veterinary examination did not reveal any injury to the bones. The bear is in the separation facility for observation until further notice and is being treated with medication.

The adult bear is enjoying the peace and quiet in the enclosure and can be easily observed by visitors as she bathes in the pond and forages through the enclosure.
