Switzerland’s oldest zoo
The Zurich Langenberg Wildlife Park is not only the oldest but also the largest zoo in Switzerland in terms of area.
The Wildnispark Zurich keeps its wild animals in expansive, near-natural enclosures and aims to ensure that the animals are able to live out their repertoire of natural behaviours to the fullest possible extent. In particular, this includes finding mates, rearing their young and, in the case of social species, living together in groups.
The zoo is run on a scientific basis and is committed to high-quality animal care that prioritises the animals’ welfare. To help conserve endangered species, it participates in conservation breeding programmes run by the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA).
