Sihlwald–Langenberg, Forest Route

Through the Sihlwald forest to Langenberg

Season

All season

The trail leads from the visitor centre of the Wildnispark Zurich through the wilderness of the Sihlwald forest and residential areas to the animal enclosures in Langenberg.

The route leads uphill through the wild forest to the old Sihlwaldstrasse road. It cuts through a wild ravine known as ‘Tüfels Chuchi’ (Devil's Kitchen). Continuing along Sihlwaldstrasse, you will soon reach the hamlet of Tobel. There, the trail leaves the forest and leads to the ‘Im Unterrängg’ neighbourhood. It then climbs steeply uphill to the red deer and sika deer. The climb is rewarded with a wonderful view of the mountains and spacious, natural enclosures with native or formerly native wild animals such as brown bears, ibex and wild boar.
