Albispass–Albishorn–Sihlwald
Ridge walk and descent through the Sihlwald forest
Season
All season
The first part of this hike offers sweeping views and fantastic vistas over the Sihlwald forest. In the second part, you will dive straight into the wilderness of Switzerland's first Nature Discovery Park.
The path climbs gently uphill, offering views of Lake Zurich and the city of Zurich. After a short while, you will reach the forest. On the right-hand side is the Albisboden hut with a fire pit. The path continues deeper into the forest. A little later, you will reach the Albis-Hochwacht observation tower. Those with no fear of heights will be rewarded for their climb with an extra-special panoramic view. Continuing down the ridge, you will reach the Schnabellücke. After a short while, the path leads steeply uphill to Bürglenstutz, the highest point on the Albis chain (915 metres above sea level). Then continue along the Albisgratweg to Albishorn. Here begins the descent through the forest and the core zone, past the Albishorn pond, down to Sihlwald station and the Wildnispark Zurich visitor centre there.
