It is with great anticipation that we would like to draw your attention to the fact that our "Birds' Wildlife Day" will take place in Sihlwald on Sunday, April 24.

In the Sihlwald Nature Discovery Park, trees that have fallen or been attacked by the bark beetle are not cleared away. This creates valuable habitat for woodpeckers and other bird species that like to live in tree hollows.

The fast-flowing, boulder-rich Sihl river is also very popular with dippers. It is the only songbird in Switzerland that can swim and dive. The dipper population on the Sihl has been the subject of intensive research for more than 30 years.

On "Birds in the Wild" day, you can find out more about the numerous bird species in the Zurich Wilderness Park. At 2 and 3 pm, ornithologist Irmgard Zwahlen from the Swiss Ornithological Institute also offers a guided tour on the subject of "Dipper on the Sihl".

With the steam locomotive into the Sihlwald?

The whistle of the legendary Zurich Museum Railway can also be heard on Wildlife Day. On this day, a historic train composition will travel the route between Sihlwald and Zurich Wiedikon and take interested guests on a short nostalgic journey.

Location: Visitor center of the Zurich Wilderness Park in Sihlwald.
Time: 1.30 to 4.30 pm.
