Experience, enjoy and understand nature

At the gates of the cities of Zurich and Zug.

The Zurich Wilderness Park offers unique experiences in nature at two locations: the Langenberg Animal Park in Langnau am Albis invites visitors to meet native animals. The Sihlwald Nature Adventure Park offers a unique combination of forest, wilderness and river landscape. The Sihlwald hamlet is home to the visitor center with a nature museum, playground and fire pits.

Making a big difference with small changes

Butterflies at home

Piles of branches and stones, flower meadows or insect hotels provide habitats for lizards, hedgehogs, wild bees and other small animals. You can also encourage small animals in the garden or on the balcony.

How can you do this? You can find the instructions here. Further inspiration can be found in the new small animal commune on the grounds of the visitor centre in Sihlwald – it's well worth a visit!

Branch nests, suspension bridges, an hollow silver fir trunk, a snake made of wood - these are the centrepieces of the wilderness playground at the visitor centre in Sihlwald. The exciting play wilderness offers challenges for young and old.

Bähnliweg

1876 wurden im Sihlwald erstmals eine Waldeisenbahn verwendet, um die Forstarbeit zu erleichtern. Übriggebliebene Schwellen des einst 12 km langen Trassees kann man noch heute auf dem Bähnliweg entdecken.

The world of mice

This house accomodates mice, rats and dormice compounds. These areas come together with the visitors' rooms so as to create a unique experience. The house is part of Langenberg Wildlife Park.

This cycling route leads from Zurich's town centre to the wilderness in Sihlwald and for most of the way on car-free tracks, always follows the bank of the River Sihl (regional cycle route 94).

Spinnerweg

Der Spinnerweg war früher einer der wichtigsten Verkehrswege im Sihltal. Die Spinnereien am Zürichsee und im Sihltal beschäftigten Arbeiterinnen aus dem Konaueramt, welche diesen Weg über den Albis zu Fuss zurücklegten.
