Due to the ongoing drought, there is a considerable risk of forest fires in the canton of Zurich (level 3 out of 5). We kindly ask you not to light fires in the Sihlwald. You may use the marked fireplaces in the Langenberg Wildlife Park. Please always extinguish the fire completely.

ViaNatura – Horgen to Sihlwald

Stage 4: from Silberweide to Sihlwald – including an audio trail

ViaNatura is an initiative run by Zürcher Wanderwege and takes in the canton’s most beautiful natural landscapes. The fourth stage leads from the Silberweide Nature Centre to the Sihlwald, a park of national importance.

The ViaNatura offers a variety of nature experiences over a distance of around 200 kilometres – from moors and forests to lakes and river landscapes. The fourth stage of the ViaNatura begins at the Silberweide Nature Centre and ends at the Wildnispark Zurich. The final 4 kilometres of the fourth stage pass through the Sihlwald Nature Discovery Park.
The route starts at the Horgenberg bus stop in Moorschwand. From there, the walk leads up the slope and, after a long climb, reaches the boundary of the Wildnispark Zurich Sihlwald. A particularly special feature here is the abundance of deadwood, which occasionally lies across the path. The final section of the walk then leads down to the hamlet of Sihlwald, where you’ll also find the visitor centre with its exhibition. With a bit of luck, you can also watch the otters swimming in their enclosure by the River Sihl.

This final section is particularly suitable for families with children, who can follow the audio trail.

In addition, there is an audio trail on the ViaNatura that has been specially designed for families with children. The audio trail is available in Swiss German only.
Nine stations with audio stories await visitors along the 3.7-kilometre route: Hiky, the mascot of the Zürich Wanderwege, has lost his binoculars whilst out walking – and needs help! Along the way, the children encounter exciting animals, listen to funny and educational stories, and complete little tasks.
Dedicated signposts lead to the audio stations, which can be accessed online. There is also a booklet containing further puzzles, information about the ViaNatura and colouring pictures. Anyone who correctly guesses the solution word will receive a small gift in the Sihlwald.
